Week 1. 2023.

Week 1. 2023.

The last week has flown by. I guess that is in part due to getting back into routines. However, actually, for me the week was not that great. I felt quite sick at the start of the week but tried not to let this stop me from achieving my goals. At the end of last week, I set myself three things I wanted to accomplish and I hit them all except for the exercise goal. BUT, I only missed one day, which with how sick I was feeling, which I’m chuffed with.

One thing that I’ve kept up are my daily walks. Usually just around the local park a few times, which is about a 1-mile loop with a steep hill thrown in. I am starting to see minor improvements in my fitness from just a week of doing this, and I can’t wait to keep building that up and seeing what else I can achieve. We are trying to add in new/different scenery and today’s walk took us to the local City Farm. The pigs were starting to get big, and they had some lovely cows I hadn’t seen before.

This week was also my monthly physio check-up. I am progressing with my knee recovery and focusing on strengthening all the muscles in my leg. I was shaking after my appointment and had a proper case of the jelly legs on the walk home.

I have been trying to keep more of an eye on what we eat and get back into the habit of meal planning. It’s not my favourite task, but it keeps us on track and reduces the amount of money we spend on food. Generally, we get a Gousto box and a Sainsburys online delivery each week. I know, drop the Gousto, and it would save a lot, but I love it. I’ve found so many new foods and flavours that I would never have tried if it wasn’t for this little red box.

We also managed to get down all the Christmas decorations. They aren’t back in the loft quite yet as we are waiting on some new storage boxes from Amazon to arrive. Finally splashed out on one of the fancy bauble boxes and a bag to store the wreath instead of just a black bin bag.

I also completed a few other small jobs this week. We have a bit of a gnat issue, so we got the neem oil out. It’s a battle, but I’m determined to eliminate them. I also sorted out all my Gousto recipe cards and sorted them into marked folders based on cooking time. It’s only a small job but it will make it so much easier to find our favourite recipes.

The other thing I have started and am determined to complete is 1second a day. It’s an app where you upload a 1-second clip each day, and at the end of the month/year/whatever you choose, it creates a little video of memories. I attempted this last year and completed it until the end of March, but I would love to have one for the entire year. How great would that be?!

This week has been fantastic for TV. I binged all the new season of Ginny & Georgia in a day while I was sick. I finished the first season of White Lotus and moved on to the second season; so good. Not sure why we slept on this show for so long. And finally, Masked Singer returned. Cheesy, yes, but so good. Not a clue who any of them are yet but I can’t wait to play along.

Things I want to achieve this week:

  • 30 minutes of exercise daily
  • Complete 1second a day
  • Have a clear out of the wardrobe
