This week was the start of that bunch of weeks with what feels like endless Bank Holidays. But this one was epic, well for me anyways. It’s taken me six years, 3 restarts but I finally did it. I completed Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Just in time for the new one coming out in May. I can’t believe I did it, it’s always felt a bit outside of my reach but I’m finding real joy in following through and completing things at the moment so pushed through and did it.
The rest of the week was pretty uneventful, the lovely weather left us abruptly and was replaced by rain and winds. I had a haircut and went slightly blonder for the summer which I love. For the last few years I have been trying to grow my hair longer and it’s almost at what my initial goal was but in typical me style I’m thinking of cutting it all back to a long bob again. It’s an endless cycle for my hairdresser, long, longer, even longer, cut it all off! I guess I’ll see how I feel by my next visit and decide if I’ll make the chop or not at that point.
I had a very fleeting trip to London to renew my passport. A job I should have done in Winter but I already had flights booked so left it too late. I could have risked it with the online application, I’m aware of that. But with family living abroad and recent personal issues, I couldn’t risk waiting the suggested 10 weeks. I think this is the quickest visit I have ever done to London, literally off the train to the passport office at the Excel, then a 30-minute detour back to the train via Uniqlo and back home in no time.
The weekend was a bit busier. The rain thankfully held off for a local food festival so we popped down to get some goods. This is an annual market but I think they are hoping to make it more regular. Last year when we visited we left it way too late in the day and nearly everything was sold out so headed out a lot earlier this year. We picked up a few things but mostly just enjoyed a mooch and the excuse to get out of the house for a while. We got some cheese straws from the market that were phenomenal. I love a food market but they don’t always love me, so much nice food, so much onion. (I have an onion intolerance).

The Sunday was a trip into town as the husband had an eye test and I had a quick mooch around Primark. I did buy a few things but need to take a lot of them back, they either don’t fit or just realised they just don’t fit with my wardrobe and what I’m trying to achieve with it. I’m trying to have fewer clothes and things that are classic, that I can keep and wear throughout most seasons.
We watched a few more films this week also including the new Ghostbusters film. I see what they were trying to do by making the children the main focus but it personally didn’t work for me. The film was alright, it was what i expected and easy watching which is what I wanted from it. We also finally got around to watching Top Gun: Maverick. What a good film that was. Again, just a fun, easy-going watch.
TV this week was a good one also, we had the epic (no spoilers here) episode of Succession. Can’t wait to see where they take this storyline in the future. Also, my beloved show Below Deck is back. In fact, it turned out that I was a whole season behind so caught up on that and started the new Below Deck: Mediterranean.
