Week 52. 2022.

Week 52. 2022.

End of the year. Always a funny one, isn’t it? I hate to be one of those people, but I’m ready for a new year and a new start. I have been setting realistic targets and won’t be too hard on myself if I don’t fully achieve them. Trying is better than nothing.

Anyways, this is a weekly diary, so let’s focus on that. That means starting with Christmas day. We spent it with my mother-in-law at her house this year. Due to getting public transport up, we had already exchanged large presents at home before we went away, so we did a small present opening and enjoyed a few drinks. Our Christmas meal was delicious, and it was a reasonably chilled-out, quiet day. The next day we got a lift to my parents, who live about an hour away and had another few chilled-out days before driving back home. I prefer doing Christmas at home. There is so much pressure on seeing family and travelling, but sometimes it’s just a bit too stressful for me and can reduce my enjoyment of the season.

We spent the next few days living in a bit of a bubble, waking up each morning unsure what day of the week it was and living off a diet of beige food. This has been the first year that I have experienced this. I usually had to work over these few days, so it has been a nice change.

I bought a few sale bargains, nothing too exciting. I got a jumper and t-shirt from M&S and ordered a few bits online from Next, but in typical sale style, won’t be here until the 25th of January! No worries, though, no rush for them. We also shopped in the Easyjet sale and bought a weekend in Edinburgh and a weekend in Palma. I cannot wait to travel a bit more this year. I *think* we have a minibreak booked every month up until May so far.

There isn’t much else to say for the week. I watched a LOT of tv and films and ate a lot of food. Standard. I spent New Year watching the fireworks on TV in my PJs and then did the obligatory New Year’s Day walk. It felt amazing to get out and move more. Definitely, something I want to try and do more of this year. We made a 5-mile loop from ours around the harbour and back home with a little stop at the Underfall Yard cafe for a coffee. What a little gem this place was. We timed it perfectly to avoid the rain undercover before setting off again for the other half of the walk.

Things I want to achieve in the next week:

  • Finish the Christmas jigsaw
  • Take vitamins daily
  • 30 minutes of exercise daily (gotta close those apple fitness rings)
