After the excitement (and cost of Birthday week) we took it easy for the rest of the week. This mostly involved chilling, cooking and Zelda TOTK. I have been really enjoying cooking again recently and I’m so thankful to Gousto for this and for introducing me to new, exciting foods I wouldn’t have previously considered. My palette has grown massively and I’m much more likely to try new foods. I also like how you cook everything from fresh, even if a recipe has onion in it, I can just leave it out of the recipe.

The weekend started with a visit to Beyond Submergence at Propyard in Bristol. This is described as a “world-first immersive light, space and sound journey”. It was good, not great, not bad. But we went on opening weekend with no idea what to really expect, like for example, the show runs on the half hour. This was not made clear and we turned up slightly late but thankfully they allowed us into the next show. In fact, at the end, they state that you can stay in the exhibit as long as you wish. This can leave the space slightly crowded though I felt. The basis is that during the half-hour, you walk around this large warehouse room and experience the lights and sounds at each exhibit. It was impressive, some of the lights more so than others. I LOVED the large room with the hanging lights at the end but what I didn’t love where the children constantly running through and tying several of the strings together which ruined the effect of the room overall. They warn you before you go in that it’s loud and bright, in fact, they offer earplugs for free if required and they weren’t joking. It’s not somewhere for infants or people with sensory issues but they do run sensory-friendly slots at other times.

We then had a lovely walk back home via Windmill Hill City Farm market. I can usually find with these markets that they all feel a bit repetitive and it’s the same traders but I’m pleased to say that this felt like all brand new vendors. We didn’t get much, just stickers and lunch from Big Naths BBQ. I only had a small side as I had felt quite sick all day.
Our friends who we had helped a few times in their new house invited us over on Saturday night for a meal and catch up. It was so lovely to see their place furnished and felt much more like home. Unfortunately, as I still wasn’t feeling great I didn’t eat a lot, I stuck to hummus and some halloumi, which FYI I have never had before. Oh my god, I have been missing out on halloumi. So tasty.
Anyways, the rest of the weekend was a bit of a write-off due to feeling unwell.
