Week 52. 2023

Week 52. 2023

Hello, long time no update. I have no excuses but 2024 is my year, I’m going to smash all my goals, including updating this weekly. I’m going to set myself weekly goals and be honest and open about how I’ve done with these each week. As part of this ‘get organised’ bonanza I have purchased the most beautiful weekly planner from Papier and the hope is that this helps me organise and prioritise my days better.

Anyways, back to last week. The week started with of course Christmas Day—Hurrah for all the food and presents. My mother-in-law stayed with us for a few days over Christmas, but it was overall very chill even with a house guest. We woke up and donned our Christmas Onesies, as is tradition and sipped on some Bucks Fizz while opening presents. I had a pretty good haul this year, including 4 new vinyls for my collection. I got Dirty Dancing, 2 MCR albums and Frozen, an overall pretty eclectic selection. I also got some clothes, a new game, a book and some other small bits and bobs. Definitely at that age where less is more and generally if I want something throughout the year, I’ll buy it for myself.

We had a gorgeous curry for our Christmas lunch, it’s our little tradition. Always a Korma and lots of poppadoms and naans. We like a roast but this is so much less stressful and a nice change. Other than that it was a lot of nibbles and a cheeky few drinks.

The rest of the week was spent hiding from the rain and wind. We managed to get out on Boxing Day and walked around the harbour, which it felt like the entire population of Bristol were also doing but it didn’t rain and it was fairly warm so a nice walk. We stopped off at The Cottage for a little caffeine top-up but made it all the way around pretty quickly other than that stop off. It’s a lovely walk, always lots to see and always feels a lot longer than you remember.

I spent most of the in-between period playing the new Switch game that I got for Christmas, Hogwarts Legacy and building some Lego. An unproductive few days but it felt good and I’m not going to beat myself up about it. My husband also had the time off so we spent a lot of time together which was really good.

We ended the week eating more food at a friend’s who made us a fantastic roast and then we got home, sat in our pjs and watched the fireworks on the BBC. A perfect end to an okay year. I didn’t achieve all that I wanted to but after 2020 and 2021 this year has felt relatively okay.

Anyways, goal for next week:

  • Walk 7000 steps a day
  • Start one of the many craft projects from the TBM pile
  • Skincare every day
