Week 4. 2023

Week 4. 2023

My start to the week was pretty chill. My online order from Tu by Sainsbury’s arrived in the store so I walked over to pick this up Monday night. In doing so learned that Monday nights in the supermarket are dead. Perfect for doing some browsing. The walk was slightly perilous though. We had several consecutive days of the temperature not getting above 0 degrees, and the ground was super icy; add in the Bristol hills, and it was an effort but worth it. I ordered two sets of matching tracksuits. They are very outside my comfort zone but so comfy and I love them.

In terms of TV, I started and finished That 90’s Show on Netflix this week. I was a big fan of the original That 70’s Show and was initially worried when I heard they were rebooting it, but it was good. It was a fun show with nearly all the OGs sprinkled throughout the season. And in totally contrasting TV, I also watched Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story on Netflix. This was dark; the fact that you don’t actually see the murders and other more gruesome things happen but hear them instead really added to the fear factor. I’m glad I watched it but definitely one not for the faint-hearted.

It was another trip to the physio this week. We had a good chat about my knee and my planter fasciitis, she has recommended a possible gait analysis, which we almost got started with until the fire alarm went off. I have the analysis booked for my next visit though, we are looking to see if I might benefit from some custom insoles. My physio is right next door to Starbucks, so of course, with the alarm going off the entire building was evacuated, so I didn’t get my little Starbucks treat.

The week ended with the first trip away in 2023. We flew into Toulouse to stay with family for a few days, which was lovely. They live in a fairly remote village, so it’s always nice and peaceful. We didn’t do much; we ate out at a local cafe and went into the Pyrenees the following day for some sledging. Such fun and beautiful and unlike anything I have experienced before. Most of the time was spent playing with my nephews and the new puppy. The big news, though, is I did sledge. Which, I know, sounds stupid, but I’m super proud of myself for doing that. I’m still sometimes very nervous and hesitant with my knee but had no issues throwing myself down that hill!

Our flights there and back were relatively easy. In fact, possibly the easiest we have had in a long time, which I think has something to do with the time of year. There was literally no one in front of us for security at Bristol Airport, and the same on the return. We bought some Easyjet-sized cabin bags so took hand luggage only which made everything a lot easier. We also bought the matching compression cubes and managed to fit loads into the backpacks. Highly recommend. They are going to be perfect for the other trips we have this year. We had no problem taking bigger winter clothes, so warmer climates will be a breeze.
