The week started with my parents still here. They generally visit from Friday to Monday and leave in the morning to avoid the traffic. It means a slightly stressful start to the week, but then I always make sure that I set zero plans for the rest of the day so that I can unwind.
Wednesday night was haircut night, got it thinned a bit and added some longer layers in. I’m still trying to grow my hair longer but ensuring I don’t end up with a million split ends. Also, those greys are coming through thick and fast now. Thank god for hair dye! I have recently been trying to care for my hair and started using more products. I’m yet to see amazing results, but it feels healthier. I was recently TikTok-influenced to try the colorWOW humidity shield, and wow really does describe it. My hair hates humidity; it frizzes and looks awful, but this stuff works. I don’t follow the instructions completely, I’m not after that full gloss look, and when I saturate the hair as instructed, I find that it leaves my hair feeling heavy. A few generous sprays though and I’m good to go. It stops the frizz. It’s not the cheapest, but I only use this occasionally when going out or away for a few days. It claims to last for 3-4 washes, but I find that I get maybe 2-3 washes out of it before it wears off. That being said, I only wash my hair every second day, so it lasts for a while.
It was another week and another bunch of Vinted sales. It’s therapeutic clearing out things that I no longer wear or no longer fit me. I’m planning on another big wardrobe clear out; some things I kept thinking I would wear again but another few months on and they are sat gathering dust in the wardrobe, so why not sell them and make a few quid right?
This week, a frustrating thing was that the filling on my front tooth came out. The dentist did say that it was fragile. I had been cautious but broke the filling off the same way that I broke the tooth, by eating pizza. My beloved pizza. My favourite of all foods. Why does it do this to me? Im holding off getting the filling done again. When I got this done last time the dentist filed down the sharper edges on my tooth so it no longer catches on my tongue, and because it’s the bottom row of teeth you can’t ever really see it. I might get it done again after my next check-up at the end of the year, but until then, it’s fine.
We are trying to make the most of the nice weather when it happens and get out walking more. It’s hard to decide where to walk to sometimes though. This weekend we decided to walk to our nearest Lidl and get a few things in. They had a garden special on and I bought two plants there for £7.99 each, which I thought was a bargain. They are pretty big and established, so hopefully, they are much harder for me to kill. I’m very hit-and-miss with houseplants, I love them, but they don’t always love me back. And don’t get me started on fungus gnats; I’ve been in a war with them for months. I have greatly reduced their population but some are still sticking around. We also picked up some of the small pre-mixed Aperol Spritz bottles they sell. I love these for when you just want a cheeky cocktail and don’t have to worry about using up an entire bottle of soda water. They taste just like the real thing. I believe they also sell these in tins in the summer, great for park drinkies. Finally, the last few bits we got were a new spicy, tomato sauce which we had with some of their fresh pasta. It was delicious and best of all, the sauce had no onion! This is a real win, which reminds me, I need to go and buy out all of their sauce jars.

We also finally got our new neon sign up about the record player. We got this from the Lights4Fun online store; it was reasonably priced and looks great in the little nook. We still need to paint the room, but I’m already in love and can’t wait for the final result. We recently also got the gorgeous little acrylic record holder from Amazon which looks great. It was actually a pack of two, so the other one is on the top shelf above the record player. Our record collection is starting to grow, and I love just putting some music on and relaxing.
We ended the weekend with a comedy show. It’s someone that my husband used to work with in radio back in Manchester, Justin Moorhouse. He was playing in a new to us venue called The Wardrobe Theatre. It was brilliant, such a funny show and we met him afterwards briefly to say hello and catch up. We ended up walking back as the rain held off for a brief moment. It was a nice walk home and only took about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the rain did not hold off the entire way, but I’m not so mad at getting wet walking home; you can always get in and change into your jammies. Which, of course, I did. It was quite a nice week. We got stuff done, tried some new food and saw an old friend.
