Week 7. 2023

Week 7. 2023

I started off the week with another physio appointment. Unfortunately, my usual physician wasn’t available, so I had a catch-up with one of the company’s bosses, which was good. We worked on a plan for getting me walking more ready for some of my upcoming city breaks. I’m back again in a fortnight for a check-up. Feeling a bit stuck with my recovery, it comes in fits and starts though, and I need to keep working away at it.

This week was also Valentine’s Day. We don’t celebrate or do much in our house. I firmly believe in small gestures of love throughout the year, not all tied to one day. We did the big, over-the-top, rose petals everywhere thing when we started dating, but I would rather spend it with a nice home-cooked meal and comfies on the sofa. We made a lovely meal from Gousto this year, and it was part of their spicy range with Tabasco sauce. Ours was a satisfying meat-free chicken burger which I forgot to take any photos of but trust me, it was delicious.

We even went out on a school night this week for a catch-up with friends. We booked Pizza Express, which is always a good choice, although disappointingly they had sold out of Aperol!! I had one of their other cocktails instead, but I did miss my Aperol Spritz. Afterwards, we tried the new indoor minigolf that opened on the harbourside called Par59. I think we were the last booking of the night, but it was good fun, there are two small courses and a little bar. The service for drinks was slow, which was a bit concerning when it was nearly empty. Hoping it’s just teething problems with being so newly opened. Of course, I won the game; was there ever any doubt? 😛

The Friday was supposed to be at another Light Festival, this time in Weston-super-Mare; however, this did not go to plan. Firstly, it wasn’t supposed to rain but guess what it did all night? The drizzle was full-on torrential when we got off the train, and we were unprepared for such a deluge. We got about 5 minutes from the train station before I had a complete meltdown. I say meltdown, that’s unfair; I had a panic attack. It was awful; I hadn’t felt that way in such a long time. I forgot how much it could affect me. We just got the train back home and spent the night in our PJs instead.

The weekend was another social affair meeting friends for more food. Definitely a theme for the week! We went to Berthas, which, FYI are some of the best pizzas in Bristol. We then took a walk around the harbour and showed off the beautiful sites of Bristol to the outsiders. Always good to catch up with old friends.

Sunday was a chilled affair. I just walked up to the local store to drop off some Vinted parcels, and then I played Zelda for a few hours. The countdown is on to finally complete this game before the new one comes out in a few months.
