This week started with the last bank holiday before the long slog through to Christmas. I tried to make the most of it and spent the day finishing the garden from the previous week. It looks so much better, and I love having some colourful plants back out again. I also cleaned up all the solar lights and candles as they all had a thick layer of snail poo on them. (Gross)
Before I knew it the weekend came around and my parents came down to visit, it’s been a while since they last stayed so a fair bit had changed including the bi-fold doors, getting rid of the coffee table, new sofa and lots of other bits. Thankfully when they arrived they said that they loved it all. It’s starting to feel like a home for us now. Just need to get the motivation and time to finish decorating!
We planned a fairly chilled weekend and spent Saturday outside in the sunshine at the local city farm. They host a little market once a month so we had a look around and a few purchases were made before we enjoyed a coffee in the farm cafe. The farm was busy but not too manic and best of all they had some week-old piglets who were adorable! We stopped off at the farm’s taproom and all enjoyed a drink in the sunshine before walking back home through the park on what was easily one of the nicest nights so far this year. The temperature was perfect, the park had that late summer evening haze and the night ended with the most spectacular sunset which we enjoyed from the garden sofa.
The next day we went to try out a new brunch spot called Flourish which is just past Keynsham. It was lovely and definitely a spot we will return to again. I had a fantastic french toast with bacon and maple syrup while my husband had the full English. Both were 10/10. The cafe has a little farm shop and craft shop attached so yet again a little mooch and some more purchases. I also spotted a cute little pottery shop at the back where you can paint your own pottery so I’ll be back to do that. Because it was such a nice day we headed to the riverside and stopped at a pub in Saltford for a cooling beverage and enjoyed the river. It seemed everyone else had that idea, the river was packed with people on paddleboards and swimming.
It was a really lovely week and weekend which was finished off with a giant spider in the bedroom as we went to bed, so that was a fantastic way to end the week. Poor husband spent ages trying to get it because lemme tell you, if that spider dropped to the ground and ran and hid, there is no way I would be sleeping in that bedroom! He was my hero.
I didn’t get a chance to watch much TV this week as I was preparing for my parent’s visit and busy most days but we are still slowly making our way through The Bear on Disney+ and loving it. I did make time to watch one film though and that was Dungeons and Dragons which I knew wouldn’t be great but oh, it was awful.
Next week it’s predicted a heatwave so I’m expecting another quiet week as I hide indoors away from the intense heat.
