Hello and a Happy New Year! This year started brilliantly didn’t it, new year, new week, new me. Well maybe not quite the last one, but it felt very satisfying starting the year on Monday. I sat down at the start of the week with my new diary from Papier which helps you create a mindmap and set out 3, large, annual goals and then weekly overviews. As part of the weekly overviews it then goes into individual daily planners and the idea is that you review every 4 weeks. My big 3 this year I decided are:
- Health – lose weight and exercise
- Time Management – complete crafts and reduce screen time
- Education – finish coding course and learn CBT to help anxiety.
For example, I started a new craft project. It’s making some little felt cactus plants and I misread the instructions and messed up the first plant. I had a mini meltdown, but I still sat down the next day to try again and can confirm that this one went perfectly. I didn’t finish the craft but that’s okay, I started so I’m further than where I was at the start of the week.
I aimed to get to 7000 steps daily and failed terribly at this one. I think the constant heavy rain might have to take some blame for this failure. But on the positive side, I stuck to my calorie deficit and saw a further weight loss after the Christmas gain. The walking might have helped boost that further but now I’m back into the swing of things with my diet again I can start adding new things like walking on top. After a fortnight of hitting 7000 steps, I intend to increase this to 10,000. I want to prioritise my fitness levels this year. I have struggled ever since my knee surgery and summers are always especially difficult with the heat on top of my poor fitness levels.
Two out of three ain’t bad for the first week of the new year. I hit most of my habit trackers as well such as taking my multi-vitamins and keeping up my skincare.
The week was relatively quiet. We put away the Christmas decorations, did some reading, and some crafts, watched some TV and went out for lunch at Low and Slow in Clifton with some friends.
I have a few things to look forward to this year, starting with the soonest that I’m seeing my college friends at the end of the month. First time we have all been together in forever and I cannot wait. We are going to have afternoon tea in Birmingham. Why Birmingham? Well, it was kinda an easy mid-ground for us all as we scattered ourselves across the country ranging from me being furthest South in Bristol and my friend Cherry being up North in Sheffield.
This week we also booked a bucket list holiday. I’m going on a Norway Fjord Cruise!! I cannot wait and hope that this will be a great motivator to keep me on track with my goals for the next few months. We treated ourselves to a balcony cabin and I really cannot wait to sit out there with my cuppa coffee each morning watching the mountains.
My goals for next week:
- Walk 7000 steps a day
- Finish cactus craft project
- Dont spend any money
