A quiet start to the week. In fact a pretty quiet week. The only real thing I did this week was meet with a friend and visit the local City Farm. By some stroke of luck, we picked the only day we had had sunshine for weeks, which was perfect for a little stroll around. Windmill Hill City Farm is a real gem; I love living close to all the animals. Spring is an ideal time of the year at the farm, the flowers start to bloom, and there’s usually the arrival of lots of new babies. We checked up on the piglets, who were getting much larger and then walked around to the paddocks to see the beautiful week-old lambs.
We sat for a while in the sunshine with a cuppa coffee at the farm and did some celeb spotting (Bryony from Bake Off). It was a perfect morning catching up with friends. We decided to go somewhere else for lunch and ended up at Grounded, where I had a surprisingly good panini. Meals here can be such hit-and-miss, and this time was definitely a hit, thankfully.
At the weekend my parents came to visit. We only planned a little while they were here beside B&Q to get some garden bits and then a walk somewhere on Sunday. B&Q was a bit disappointing. They didn’t have the colour of pointing we needed, and actually, when we checked it was a lot cheaper on Amazon. We did manage to pick up some sand, which will help steady some of the looser tiles. I just need to wait for sunshine and warmth to start the job. It will take a while as we will have to move the garden furniture around, but it desperately needs repair.
We settled on Cheddar Reservoir for a walk on Sunday afternoon. It’s deceptively large and took about an hour to complete the walk. It was a lovely walk, we saw lots of birds, and thankfully the rain held off. Afterwards, we headed into Cheddar for lunch; I had a satisfying cheddar sandwich made with proper Cheddar cheese. We had a little walk up the gorge to look in some shops, but the weather started to turn. The wind was picking up making it cold so we hopped in the car and drove further into the gorge. A bit further up we spotted lots of wild goats chilling on the gorge’s edge. The more you looked, the more you spotted everywhere. We actually spotted a few of the goats earlier in the town and stopped to take some photos. As we did, some locals walked past commenting about what a nuisance they are and how they get into everyone’s gardens and eat their flowers.
This week was also our first week trying Hello Fresh. We had a fantastic offer come through and decided to give it a go. Worth noting we are usually a Gousto household. I have been for over three years but I thought we’d give someone else a try. Comparing after one week is probably unfair, but we prefer Gousto. The meal choices are more varied and fun. Plus their cooking guides on the recipe cards are so much more straightforward. The Hello Fresh recipes just missed out on massive chunks of what you need to be doing? Anyways, we will try it again and see how we get on, but I don’t have much hope.
