Week 19. 2024

Breaking the rules on this post and going back to the Saturday beforehand and telling you all about how amazing Hamilton was. For literal years I have seen so many people post about this and when Disney added the live recording to their online streaming I of course had to watch and finally understood the hype. So when they announced that Hamilton was going on a UK tour including Bristol we got tickets and lemme tell you the show did not disappoint. It’s a must-see if you get the chance.

The following week was what I am referring to as the start of Spring/Summer in Bristol. Finally warm enough to have the bifolds open and the skies were blue instead of grey and rainy. It’s amazing what a difference the weather can have on your mental health but wow, I feel so much happier. But also very unprepared for the hot weather. The initial excitement of warmth and sunshine soon fades into anxiety and thoughts about sweating (a very real issue for a plus-sized girly, how I look in skimpier clothes and how pale my body is. I am forcing myself this year to try and show my body more and not give a f**k what people think, jiggly thighs will be out in full force this year. And the real way you know that the seasons are changing when you live in Bristol, the balloons are back!!

The sun and above issues though have kickstarted my weight loss, I was doing well with this but things happened earlier in the year that caused me to put some weight back on. And I know I said that I won’t care, and I don’t but I know that this year I potentially have some medical things coming up that require me to be below a certain weight and I need to have a good push at losing some weight. Aiming for about one stone weight loss across the next 3 months which should be easily attainable if I focus on prioritising food and exercise.

That being said this weekend we did go to Birmingham for the night and I did in fact eat all of the food! It’s all about moderation though, I’m not going to deprive myself of anything. We went to see Olivia Rodrigo and she was fantastic, were we the oldest there? Possibly but who cares? Am I supposed to just not have a life and enjoy things past a certain age? I think not. We ate at Rudys Pizzeria beforehand which is a pizza chain up North that I had wanted to try for a while and it was delicious. The concert was on one of the hottest days of the year and this meant that the arena was like a sauna. I almost passed out several times but thankfully I had decided against alcohol and stuck to soft drinks and regularly sat down when I felt it was too much. Despite the sickness, I enjoyed the show, she had a lot of impressive staging elements although I think the flying moon was my favourite.

We ended the week by seeing our friends and their new dog, Daisy. We spent an hour in the park watching her run after a squirrel followed by a few hours in the pub garden. Making the absolute most of the sunshine and a perfect chilled Sunday to end the week.
